The rest of Week 4’s picks will be published on Friday.
Los Angeles Rams at Seattle Seahawks, 8:20 p.m., Fox and NFL Network
Line: Seahawks -1.5 | Total: 49.5
The Rams (3-1) and Seahawks (3-1) are having fairly interesting seasons in that both teams are among the 10 best in the N.F.L. in total yards allowed, but both are also allowing a disproportionately high number of points. Seattle, ranked eighth in total defense, has allowed 22.2 points a game (14th) while Los Angeles, tied for 10th in total defense, has allowed 26 points a game (26th). That makes it a little difficult to evaluate the quality of those defenses, but it should be acknowledged that an eye-popping 28 of the 55 points that the Rams allowed last week came after turnovers by the offense.
So where does that leave these teams this week? It’s likely that both offenses will be able to find room to work, and the noisy conditions in Seattle typically play as a huge advantage in games that turn into shootouts. Thursday night games are wildly unpredictable, and Jared Goff is unlikely to repeat his four-turnover performance from last week, but Los Angeles, as it searches for its running game and its defense, appears to have too much going against it in this one. Pick: Seahawks -1.5
